Born in Bristol, started my first originals punk band, “Teenage Hell”, at the age of 11yrs. We thought that by the time we had made it, we would be teenagers. I was a drummer back then along with the very musically talented guitarist/song writer Andrew Morrison. Andy taught me how to play drums and guitar. He was taught a wide range of instruments by a Gospel Church at a very young age. No recordings or gigs played.
By the age of 13yrs, I was with a covers punk band called “End Result”, still playing drums, with close friend Roj Davies (early Onslaught Vocalist) who then played bass guitar and Steve Nutt (RIP mate), on guitar. No recordings and only a handful of gigs played locally.
A year later, I was a bass player in another originals punk band “Illegal Influence”, with Roj Davies’s brother Steve Davies who played drums. There was Mark ‘Stoner’ Stone (may you rest in peace my friend), on Guitar and Vocalist/song writer Andy “Bun’ed” Drake. We were the support act for Onslaught on one of their first gigs at The Lock & Weir pub in Hanham, Bristol. This was recorded live and hopefully will be coming out on CD, MP3 and Vinyl by the end of 2025. This gig was halted when Onslaught were on their third song when a fight broke out that involved a band members wife.
I then joined Thrash Metal band Onslaught as bass player in ’83 to replace Paul “Dickie” Davies. Recording two studio albums, “Power From Hell” (Bass Guitar) and “The Force”, (Guitar). There were unforgettable tours, festivals and gigs at this time with Anthrax, Exciter, Girlschool and a hell of a lot of other bands. Toured with Motorhead as the main support act on their European leg of The Orgasmatron tour. A fantastic time that I will never forget.
Joined originals punk band “The Bolsheviks” as a bass player in 1988. The Bolsheviks are still actively playing and have many studio albums. Drummer Mark Austin has his own Studio, “The Doghouse”. Both The Sanity Days and Insult have recorded their debut albums at his studio and have both been engineered by Mark.
I then formed a fun rock/metal covers band “Militia” as main vocalist and playing bass. We had played many local gigs. The band came to an end when we lost guitarist Rich Lacey to cancer (RIP mate). Can my guitarists stop dying on me please!
Then in 2011, with all Ex-Onslaught members, Steve Grimmett, (See you in hell my friend), Steve Grice and Al Jordan, formed the Metal band “The Sanity Days” starting out playing Onslaughts third studio album, “In Search Of Sanity”. We played some countries in Europe, South America and Japan. In an early radio interview, we were asked if we were going to record any new material. The album “Evil Beyond Belief” was born and released by Candlelight Records in February 2015.
